FARGO, ND – February 6, 2025 – The North Dakota Advanced Agriculture Technology Engine (FARMS) and Wozu are excited to announce a groundbreaking partnership through a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This collaboration aims to advance regenerative agriculture, AgTech innovation, and food sovereignty initiatives that strengthen local economies and enhance food security.

Wozu, a rural, community-driven non-profit, based in Cannon Ball, North Dakota, leads initiatives that revitalize traditional ecological knowledge, support regenerative agricultural practices, and foster economic resilience. As a recognized leader in Indigenous food sovereignty, Wozu’s expertise and deep community engagement will serve as the foundation for implementing innovative agricultural solutions. FARMS, as one of the inaugural NSF Engines, works alongside key partners to accelerate AgTech solutions that drive economic development.


Key Areas of Collaboration

  • Advancing Community-Led Regenerative Agriculture: Supporting Wozu’s leadership in food sovereignty efforts, including native food cultivation, ethical buffalo management, and community-driven conservation practices.

  • Integrating Cutting-Edge AgTech Solutions: Piloting emerging technologies in climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy in partnership with Wozu’s community initiatives.

  • Building Workforce and Economic Opportunities: Creating skill development programs and innovation frameworks that empower local farmers, ranchers, producers, and entrepreneurs.

  • Developing Scalable Food Systems Models: Establishing replicable frameworks that blend local ecological knowledge with AgTech advancements to foster long-term sustainability in food production.
