To support local innovation and action, the NSF AgTech Engine is accepting applications for GROW Community Innovation Awards. These mini grants will provide up to $5,000 to empower communities to implement small scale, high impact projects that advance the workforce mission and priorities of the NSF AgTech Engine. They are intended to support small-scale, community-led innovation pilot projects that create actionable insights, build momentum, and can be shared and expanded to other communities.
North Dakota towns, counties, and economic development regions motivated to build AgTech Workforce capacity are invited to apply. Applications are due December 1, 2025. The project period is December 10, 2025-February 20, 2026. Awards are reimbursement based.
Focus areas for funding include:

Expanding access to AgTech education (K-12, higher ed, or community-based)

Creating seamless career pathways (dual credit, certifications, articulation agreements)

Expanding or scaling work-based learning opportunities (internships, apprenticeships, externships)

Building education-industry partnerships

Supporting workforce-ready communities (housing, childcare, broadband, healthcare, transportation, community assessment, building leadership capacity, etc.)

Investing in rural quality of life to attract and retain workers

Elevating career awareness and storytelling

Promoting AgTech entrepreneurship and innovation

Establishing and strengthening knowledge-sharing networks around AgTech
