Checking in with Tristan – 3 weeks into his NSF AgTech Engine Internship

Oct 13, 2025

I’ve officially wrapped up my third week working with the NSF AgTech Engine, and what a great start it’s been!

As with any new role, there’s always a period of adjustment, but I’ve been surprised at how quickly I’ve started to feel at home. A huge part of that is thanks to the incredible team I’m working with. Everyone has been so welcoming, supportive, and willing to answer questions, which has made settling in a lot easier, especially considering I’m working remotely from Florida.

Admittedly, working remotely from a different state initially presented its own set of challenges. Getting used to the time zones, new communication styles, and the feeling of being “physically distant” from the team took a little time. But now, just a few weeks in, I’ve started to find my groove. Regular meetings, clear communication, and the open, collaborative nature of the team have really helped me feel connected and involved.

In terms of work, it’s already been a diverse and exciting experience. I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to our social media efforts, helping to craft content that reflects the innovative and forward-thinking nature of the AgTech. I’ve also been attending meetings where I’m learning more about our mission and how we’re working to drive change in the agricultural technology space.

One of the most exciting things I’ve started working on is our brand new podcast. It’s still in the early stages, but being part of something from the ground up is incredibly rewarding. I’m looking forward to seeing how it evolves, and hopefully sharing more about it soon!

As I continue to get acclimated, I’m feeling more confident in my role and more inspired by the work we’re doing here. There’s so much happening in the AgTech space, and being part of a team that’s working to amplify and accelerate that innovation is something I’m genuinely excited about.

Looking forward to what the coming months bring!
